What's New

Archives

Our season was cut short in November with a very cold air mass from Siberia, believe it or not, and a 14" Thanksgiving eve snow storm. We were able to do a little work off and on after that in December but it was far from what we normally expect to accomplish at the end of the season. With off and on spells of mild temperatures the snow-melt inched closer to bare ground...

but each time we thought we would see the last bit of white disappear we would have another few inches, over and over again! Catch up time coming this Spring. Let's hope Old Man Winter leaves us early.

Christmas was very mild and much of January was pretty free of snow however in a two to three week period in February it seemed like it snowed constantly. The snow banks just kept piling up and around mid-month the displays of icicles were pretty impressive. Roof rakes were sold out in all the Home Depots, Loews, Tractor Supplies and local hardware stores like Bradley's. Wolfeboro Power sold out of snowblowers. Buyers from as far south as Connecticut!

In January Carroll County Landscape was represented at the joint meeting of the NH Landscaper Association and the NH Plant Growers Association at the Grappone Center in Concord. In attendance were Dave Alessandroni, Jan Bicknell, Tyrrell Nickerson, Patti Thomas, Matt Nichols and Dave Luczek. A day of educational sessions and a mini trade show made for a day of learning and browsing.

Early February was the date for New England Grows, one of North America's largest educational conferences and trade shows held at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. More than 12,000 attendees from the horticulture industry participate in this event each year. Those attending from Carroll County Landscape were Dave Alessandroni, Jan Bicknell, Tyrrell Nickerson, Patti Thomas and Dave Luczek. It was a great opportunity to soak up as much new information as possible and check out the latest tools, machinery and a host of other products and plants that were on display

Looking forward to seeing signs of Spring!
